When we were first introduced to the work of illustrator Debi Griffin we were struck by the high fashion quality of her sketches, reminiscent of the gown designers personal hand-drawn renderings themselves. After many years spent working in couture bridal, sketching for clients and wedding magazines, Debi now does custom pieces, creating bridal sketches under Illustrative Moments. She gets requests for every occasion from bridal showers to anniversaries and of course, wedding gifts. We thought it would be fun to have Debi create illustrations of model Misty Ma’a from our fashion editorial at Bella Sophia Estate on Oahu that appeared in issue 26 of Pacific Weddings magazine. In the first look, Misty wears Monique Lhuillier with hair and makeup styling by Jacque Rojas. She is wearing a gorgeous lace gown by Claire Pettibone in the cover shot below, captured by Visionari.
Debi’s illustrations are rendered in a high fashion style that take on characteristics and jewelry but aren’t intended to be exact portraits.
Each piece is done with much attention to detail and is created in colored pencil, colored marker, ink, and metallic pens and placed in a silk white mat with backer board ready to frame inside a clear sleeve.
